KL Converge! 2015, an annual conference and exhibition organised to demonstrate how converged communications advance the digital lifestyles for all Malaysians, today officially opened its doors to the public which will take place until August 29, 2015 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and is set to be an exciting and informative affair.
The event was officiated by Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia. Explaining the significance of KL Converge! 2015, he said, “With robust ICT infrastructure that we have in place, the time has come to push through with creation and adoption of appliacations and services that will capitalise on it. We want the ICT infrastructure to intensify the business arena by enabling innovative business models”.
Themed “Convergence and Digital Inclusion”, the event will feature an engaging programme with topics, apps, hackathons, workshops, and technology exhibitions related to the Internet of Things (IoT).
The Malaysia Developers’ Day 2015 (#MYDD2015) is also held together as a part of this big event organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission together with AT&T. Among objectives of MYDD2015 are providing innovative solutions and bring new dimensions into the industry, building digital applications and solutions that can enrich the physical world, and also as a catalyst for entrepreneurship and innovation with the aim to build a connected community. Participation categories available are Best App for Community Involvement, Best App for Smart City, and Best App for Commercialization with a competitive Grand Prize of USD$10,000 and 6 months of mentoring by Golden Gate Ventures to be scored by participants.
In addition to that, the Mega Startup Weekend is also included together within this big event where groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, and graphic artists are guided by mentors from different backgrounds including media entrepreneur Malek Ali which is the founder of BFM 89.9 radio station. In general, the format of a Startup Weekend event is a 54-hours frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation.
Having all of these activities under one big umbrella, the public will have the opportunity to network and hear from the local and international moguls, witness fantastic displays at the exhibition from a myriad of exhibitors.
Joe Flizzow, Ming Thing, Gary Chong, and Marco Tempest are among local and international moguls that will be speaking and sharing knowledge across various topics of interests.
Google, Axiata Group Berhad, Maxis, iFlix, Fujitsu, and Ericsson are among giants that are exhibiting to showcase their latest breakthroughts throughout the event together with other companies from ASEAN member countries in-conjunction with Malaysia as the chairman of ASEAN for this year.
